Office moves need structure

An office move is different from a household move because downtime matters. Employees, equipment, furniture, files, vendors, building access, and technology all need to be considered. The move plan should support business continuity, not just transportation.

What to plan before move day

Decide what is moving, what is staying, what is being disposed of, and whether furniture or equipment needs to be labeled by department, floor, employee, or destination room. Good labeling reduces confusion and speeds up setup.

Building and access requirements

Office buildings may require COIs, freight elevator reservations, loading dock scheduling, union rules, after-hours access, or management approval. These requirements should be collected early.

Storage and phased moves

Some businesses need phased moves, temporary storage, or staged delivery. This is common when a new office is not fully ready, furniture is being reused, or departments are transitioning in waves.
