An actual moving company. We are a carrier, not a broker. The people who arrive at your door are University Van Lines employees, in our shirts, driving our trucks, dispatched from our own New Jersey warehouse. Your job is not sold on to a third party you have never spoken to. A broker takes a deposit and then finds somebody else to do the work, which is a different business from ours.
The company has been family-run since 1975 and Teddy took it over in 2026. He moved out of New York City a few years ago, is raising his family in New Jersey, and runs the company day to day. Yes. Fully licensed, accredited and insured for the work we do in New Jersey and across state lines. Valuation coverage goes on every move we do; the level is set with your written quote, and you can waive it in writing if you would rather not carry it.
Local moves are priced from a room count and the hours the job will honestly take. A studio or a one-bedroom can usually be priced over the phone in a few minutes with no home visit at all. Bigger or more complicated moves are worth a survey, and we will say so. Every price is confirmed in writing before anything is booked, and on hourly work you pay for the hours the job actually takes.
